Advertising guide

The 2019 advertising guide has been thoroughly revised, to make the document more user-friendly. Where possible, grey areas have been minimised to simplify practical application. The aim is to enable users to decide independently whether an advertisement is compliant with the law.

The new guide to spirits advertising 2024 is now available. To allow sufficient time for adjustments, the new regulations will only be enforced from 1 January 2026.

Here is an overview of the most important changes.

Restrictions on spirits advertising

whiskygläser

Advertising for spirits and beverages containing spirits is restricted under the Alcohol Act (Art. 42b; SR 680). In our «Advertising guide» you will find the most important guidelines and principles that you have to observe when designing your spirits advertising. In order to assess whether or not the advertising of spirits is permissible, the actual advertising itself is always decisive. Please note that the advertising regulations apply only to end consumers (B2C), and not in the wholesale trade (B2B).
