The FOCBS

The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security provides comprehensive security at the border – for the benefit of the public, the business community and the state. Management

The management team is responsible for financial, organizational, and personnel management and develops the strategy and objectives of the FOCBS.

Mandate

We make a considerable contribution to the security and protection of the population, the economy and the Swiss state.

Organization FOCBS

We are in a process of change. The organisational charts which are being updated continuously, show our organisation in Switzerland.

Legal basis FOCBS

The legal basis for customs duties and other charges is defined by Article 133 of the Swiss Federal Constitution. This page provides information on bilateral agreements and various charges like the heavy vehicle charge.

Top-class Sport FOCBS

The FOCBS supports top-class Swiss athletes by helping them combine their sports careers with their work as customs and border security specialists.

Customs Museum

The Swiss Customs Museum in Cantine di Gandria, beautifully located by Lake Lugano, showcases the diverse duties of customs officers at the Italian border. Visit the latest exhibitions focusing on species protection initiatives, and discover the history of smuggling during World War II. Schools can benefit from guided tours and teaching materials.
