Vehicles on scheduled services
A licence from the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) is necessary for scheduled services.
The vehicles of transport companies that carry out trips within the scope of a licence are not subject to the charge. These also include replacement or additional trips, as well as empty runs due to route operation.
Trips conducted outside of scheduled services using scheduled service vehicles that are exempt from the PSVA are subject to the charge. In this regard, the charge is calculated based on the percentage of total kilometres outside of scheduled services.
The following obligations apply for the holder of vehicles used for scheduled services:
- For all vehicles with a total weight of over 3.5 tonnes, a declaration must be submitted for kilometres travelled outside of scheduled services. This applies also for vehicles that were not used for trips outside of scheduled services.
- The declaration must list all kilometres travelled both on and off scheduled services for each vehicle.
- The declaration must be sent additionally by e-mail to the following address: zentrale-psva@bazg.admin.ch.
If the declaration has not been submitted by 31 March of the following year, at the latest, the FOCBS has to collect the full charge for the entire period.
A PSVA refund entitlement exists if vehicles subject to the lump-sum heavy vehicle charge are used for licensed scheduled services. Make the corresponding application bearing in mind the following:
- The declaration must list all kilometres travelled both on and off scheduled services for each vehicle.
- A copy of the canton's heavy vehicle charge invoice must be enclosed.
- A payment slip is to be enclosed or the details of a postal or bank account are to be provided.
- We can process applications more quickly if the declaration is sent additionally by e-mail to zentrale-psva@bazg.admin.ch.
If the declaration for subsequent collection has not been submitted by 31 March, the entitlement to a refund of the charge will be forfeited.
