HVC (LSVA) III: New recording system from 2025
The existing infrastructure for levying the Performance-related Heavy Vehicle Charge (HVC / LSVA II) will soon reach the end of its life and will be completely renewed. The replacement by the new infrastructure (HVC / LSVA III) must be completed by the end of 2025.
Performance-related heavy vehicle charge HVC (LSVA): General information and current system
The performance-related heavy vehicle charge is a charge that depends on the total weight, emissions level and kilometres driven in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
It is levied on all motor vehicles and trailers that
- Have a total permissible laden weight of more than 3.5 tonnes
- Are used to transport goods and
- Are registered in Switzerland or abroad and are driven on the Swiss public road network
Lump-sum heavy vehicle charge PSVA
The charge is levied in the form of a lump sum on heavy motor vehicles for the vehicle types listed below:
- Heavy passenger vehicles
- Heavy campervans, motorhomes and caravans
- Vehicles used for transporting passengers (coaches, buses)
- Tractors and motor carriages
- Motor vehicles for fun fairs and circuses
- Other motor vehicles for the carriage of goods and with a maximum speed of 45 km/h
