Contract distillers

Contract distilleries process raw materials on behalf of clients. Licensing is based on the country's economic requirements. Adherence to specific guidelines and the use of tools like “alco-dec” are mandatory.

Contract distilleries distil other people's raw materials; they are only allowed to distil to order, and not for their own account – unless they have another licence to that effect. Contract distiller's licences (Art. 13 of the AlcA) are issued according to the economic requirements of the country. This involves checking and taking account of the location, demand and quality of spirits produced to date.

Contract distilleries must operate according to the requirements set out in the regulations for contract distillers.
