You get through customs quickly and cashlessly with the centralised settlement procedure (CSP) of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS).
From 1 January 2025, important changes to the Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Act (DEBA) will come into force that could be relevant for you as a company. One major change concerns the recovery of claims under public law.
Procedure
In the run-up to an import, the customs declaration is carried out as usual. We release the consignment at the border crossing upon receipt of the corresponding application for clearance and after any inspection of the goods. Import duties do not have to be paid on the spot.
The assessment decisions are automatically prepared in digital format (electronic assessment decisions). They can be downloaded online (see opening a CSP account).
Customs duty and VAT invoices are prepared by the system based on the information provided by the party under obligation to submit a declaration (haulage firm). You can pay your invoice either by direct debit or by invoice (see payments /invoices).
For whom is the procedure suitable?
We advise all importers and haulage firms who regularly import and pay duties on merchandise to join the CSP.
