In 2023, the FOCBS employed on average 4,655 people, 81% on operational duty and 19% in various supporting roles (4,384 FTEs).

The FOCBS employs people from all walks of life: from cabinetmakers to car mechanics to former bank employees – they have all chosen to switch jobs and follow a new career path. Last year, 111 candidates completed the basic training and were awarded their diploma as a customs and border security specialist. In 2023, two training courses started once again, with a total of 180 candidates.

At the FOCBS, the overall proportion of women was 25.9% in 2023.

Within the FOCBS, all employees can work and communicate in their mother tongue. In 2023, more than half of the FOCBS employees were German speakers, followed by French speakers, Italian speakers and finally Romansh speakers.
