From 1 January 2025, anyone wishing to import goods from abroad into Switzerland for their personal use should note the following:
From 2025, travellers may only import goods for their personal use or as a gift worth a total of CHF 150 per person per day without paying tax. If the total value exceeds CHF 150, Swiss VAT must be paid on the total value of the imported goods.
It is also possible to use the QuickZoll app to independently declare goods at the normal VAT rate and pay any applicable levies.
Further information can be found in the Federal Council press release dated 16 October 2024.
