If a horse is to remain abroad permanently, you must submit an export customs declaration or an export goods declaration to us. In addition, you must submit the following documents or upload them to Chartera Input:
- Commercial invoice or contract of sale
- Equine passport
No duties are levied upon exportation.
We recommend enquiring about the customs formalities (procedure, costs, etc.) in the destination country and any transit countries prior to the time of exportation from Switzerland; follow this link: WCO.
Information on temporary exportation is available at the following link: Horses - Temporary exportation.
Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office FSVO.
Once you have found all the necessary information, you...
- can declare the horse electronically with the appropriate application; or
- have it declared by a customs clearance agency/freight forwarder.
