Swiss distilleries and companies that produce spirits and foodstuffs containing alcohol regularly export their products to foreign countries. The tax levy is refunded upon exportation.
Spirits are generally exported via haulage firms, which are familiar with all of the necessary formalities that have to be observed.
Anyone who wants to export spirits personally has to obtain information on the export formalities, and the best way to do so is to use the category Declaring goods > Exportation from Switzerland for companies and individuals.
Refund of spirits tax
The tax levy (spirits tax already paid) can be refunded upon exportation. For this, you need to submit the export papers, the supplier invoice and the refund application to the Alcohol Sector of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security.
